Professional Tax (PT) is a state-level tax collected by the Telangana government from salaried employees and self-employed professionals. Employers must deduct PT from employee salaries and file returns regularly.
Once registered, a business must comply with monthly PT payments and annual return filing, depending on employee count and salary structure.
Deduct PT as per Telangana slab rates
Pay the collected tax to the Commercial Taxes Department
File monthly returns for employers with 20 or more employees
File annual returns for businesses with fewer employees
Monthly PT return: On or before the 10th of each month
Annual PT return: Generally by April 30th each financial year
