The Import Export Code (IEC) is a 10-digit identification number issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), required for any business involved in importing or exporting goods and services from India. Without an IEC, you cannot legally conduct international trade.

At SKNV and Associates, we help Hyderabad-based businesses, startups, and traders obtain their IEC quickly and hassle-free.

✅ Who Needs IEC?

  • Exporters of goods or services

  • Importers of raw materials, machinery, or finished goods

  • Amazon, Flipkart, or eBay sellers doing international shipping

  • Freelancers and service providers receiving payment from abroad

  • MSMEs expanding into global markets

Even a proprietor or freelancer can apply for IEC using their name and PAN.

📋 Documents Required for IEC

  • PAN card of individual or business

  • Aadhaar or passport of the applicant

  • Business address proof (utility bill or rent agreement)

  • Cancelled cheque or bank certificate

  • Entity proof (GST certificate, partnership deed, or company incorporation certificate)

💻 Process Overview

  1. Online application on DGFT portal

  2. Upload documents and digital signature (DSC)

  3. Pay government fee

  4. Receive IEC within 2–3 working days

There is no need for renewal—IEC is valid for a lifetime, but annual online updates are now mandatory.

🚫 Non-Compliance Consequences

  • Without IEC, customs clearance is not possible

  • International payments may get blocked

  • Penalties may apply for unregistered exports/imports

IEC is also required for availing export incentives under schemes like MEIS, SEIS, and RoDTEP.
